Update product variant pricing
Change a variant's price, billing frequency, quantity tiers, or payment methods.
Use this endpoint when changing a variant's pricing. Amounts are integer minor units, so 1000 represents USD 10.00.
Subscription pricing requires a positive amount, a supported cadence, and subscription-capable payment methods. Custom payment method IDs must belong to the current store and are never accepted for subscriptions.
Pass the variant's current updated_at value as expected_updated_at when you want stale writes rejected.
Trials
Send pricing.trial to start new subscriptions with a trial. A free trial costs nothing up front. A paid trial charges its price up front. The plan price is billed once the trial ends. See trials for how a trialing subscription behaves.

}Send "trial": null to remove a trial. Leaving the key out keeps the stored trial, including on PUT. A trial object you send is merged into the stored one, so when you switch a paid trial to free, send "price": null with it; otherwise the old trial price is kept and the request is refused. A trial is dropped when the pricing becomes SINGLE_PAYMENT. Changing a trial doesn't affect orders that already sold one.
A trial is refused with a 422 when:
- the pricing is not
SUBSCRIPTION(pricing.trial) - the variant selects no payment methods and the store has none enabled, or a selected or enabled payment method doesn't support trials (
pricing.trial). Every payment method supports trials today, so in practice this means a plan with no payment method to sell it - the length is shorter than two days, or longer than 365 days, 52 weeks, 12 months, or 1 year (
pricing.trial.length.value) - a
paidtrial has no positive price (pricing.trial.price.price), or a price in another currency than the plan price (pricing.trial.price.currency) - a
freetrial carries a price (pricing.trial.price.price)
The general variant endpoints don't set trials. They refuse a trial object, but accept "trial": null to remove one.
